Project
on Community Based Resource Management at Bokor National Park
is funded by US Blue Moon Fund. The goal of this project is to
reduce deforestation at Bokor National Park in Cambodia, which
is occurring due to the demand for wood as fuel. This will be
achieved by the introduction of biogas production plants and fuel
efficient stoves. Because 80% of rural Cambodians use wood as
their only source of fuel, the introduction of these energy saving
approaches should have a positive impact on the amount of wood
that the community needs for its cooking and heating purposes.
The objective of the activities recommended below are to identify
which mechanisms provide the most energy saving benefits among
a subset of the park, on a demonstration basis, so that the project
can eventually be expanded to cover a much larger territory.
Cooperated with
WildAid, SNISD will conduct the construction of biogas digesters
at Bokor National Park and training for local people.
